A Visit to the Zoo - Part 1

Before Christmas we traveled to Arizona to spend time with Jaron, Michelle and their family, then to visit Will, Amber and their family.  This day we went to the zoo.  Here we are with Sawyer and Barrett in a special area where we were able to be up close and personal with the monkeys.  This nice zoo lady is telling us not to touch anything because the monkeys mark their territory, and, well, everything is covered with monkey pee.  Notice how carefully our grandsons are listening.

Immediately after these instructions the boys spotted a monkey in the tree, (can you see him?), and Sawyer promptly grabbed onto the barrier rope.  Not to be outdone, Barrett not only grabbed onto the rope with his hands, but put it in his mouth!  Cringe!  Sometimes it's a miracle kids are not sick more often than they are!

  1. Adam, our microbiologist son, says all those germs are good to help develop a strong immune system. Still, sounds gross to me. The boys have grown so much. Tell Michelle we hardly know how they look anymore -- no posts on her blog for ages!

  2. So cool! I took David to McDonald's one winter to play in their play area and 20 minutes into it I look over at him and he is licking the play area!!! What in the world would possess him to do that? How gross is that! You know that is the biggest petri dish for bacteria. I knew he was going to get some weird disease from it and be sick for weeks but he wasn't.

  3. Hey Karen,
It was fun to look over your new blog....don't get your hopes up, I have no immediate plans to do one. Maybe I'm just lazy or think I can't do it??? Anyway, it was fun to catch up on some of your family activities. For New Year's Eve Russ and I were in a hotel in Seattle watching a movie on his IPAD. Jared went to a dance in Seattle & we were taking him to the airport the next day so decided to just stay up there. Too bad we couldn't have been with the rest of you.
See you in a couple of weeks. Kay Lynn
